What is verified about inviting friends on Steam?

Trapstar Games’ official Hood Warfare 2 listing confirms online play with friends and configurable bot matches. At our October 15, 2026 check, that listing does not show the exact party or invitation interface. We have not verified a sequence of Steam lobby buttons, so this guide does not invent one.

For the Steam edition, launch the actual game through Steam and use the multiplayer options available in your installed build. If you cannot find a working invite option, consult the developer’s Steam announcements and discussions for that build. Do not enter a browser room code into Steam or assume a web invite connects the two versions. Official links are provided below.

Browser edition: create and share your room

  1. Open Play without starting a solo match. If you are already in one, open Menu and leave the match first.
  2. Expand “Invite friends, join a room, or change your name” and choose your display name and character.
  3. Press Invite friends. The game creates a custom lobby and shows a 10-character room code and invite link.
  4. Press Copy invite link. Send that link to the friends you want in the room. If clipboard access is unavailable, select and copy the visible invite link manually.
  5. Keep the room open and wait for friends to appear in the player list. Do not press Start custom match until everyone has joined.

A custom lobby supports up to eight human players including the host. Share only with your intended crew: anyone who has an open room’s link may try to join. No account registration or Steam purchase is needed for the browser room.

Browser edition: join the host’s room

  1. Open your friend’s link in a current browser. It loads the browser game with the room selected.
  2. Check the invitation panel for mode, bot difficulty, and player count. Choose your display name.
  3. Press Join your friend. Wait until your name appears in the friend lobby.
  4. When the host starts, press Start playing if the ready screen is shown. Keep the tab visible while connecting.

You can also open Play, expand the friend options, enter the 10-character room code, and press Join. A new participant must join before the game begins. If you get a closed-room or already-started message, ask the host to create the next room.

Choose teams, bots, and the next match

Host settingUse it when
Everyone together vs. botsYour whole group wants cooperative practice
Split into two crewsFriends want to play against one another
Individual team controlsYou want custom or uneven sides
Fill spaces with botsYou want AI teammates and opponents
Bot fill offYou want only humans; place at least one person on each team

The host chooses Team Deathmatch or Turf War and Easy, Standard, or Hard bots. Three, five, and seven friends can play; there is no requirement for even teams. Start custom match begins your private game. Find a public match with crew queues the assembled party instead, and it follows Public match rules.

After a completed friend match, the host can assemble the next room with the connected crew, retaining mode, difficulty, bot fill, and assignments. New friends can join the new lobby before it starts. Private custom games do not earn public leaderboard or armory rewards. Eligible Public and Solo matches do.

If an invite or connection does not work

What you seeWhat to try
Invalid codeCopy all 10 letters and numbers; remove extra spaces
Already playing / finishedAsk the host for the next room; joining is pre-match only
Room fullMaximum eight human players, including the host
Cannot copy linkSelect the displayed invite link and copy it manually
Connection interruptedKeep the tab open for reconnection; return to the menu if retry fails
Friend in another versionUse the same browser website or the same Steam game; these systems do not connect

Opening a menu does not pause an online game. Brief interruptions attempt to reconnect to the existing character. Leaving deliberately ends your participation. If everyone disconnects, the server pauses simulation and allows a 30-second reconnection window. A failed or expired room returns you to the menu so you can create another.

Frequently asked questions

How do I invite friends in Hood Warfare 2 on Steam?

The official Steam listing confirms online friend play but does not document the exact invite interface. Use the multiplayer options in your installed Steam build and consult its developer announcements or discussions. The web room-link steps on this page apply only to hoodwarfare.app.

How do I invite friends in Hood Warfare in the browser?

Open Play, expand the friend options, press Invite friends, and copy the invite link. Friends open it and press Join your friend. The host starts after everyone joins.

Can an odd number of friends play?

Yes. Browser custom rooms allow uneven teams and up to eight human players. Bots can fill spaces, or the host can turn bot fill off when both sides have a human.

Can my friend join a match that already started?

New participants join before the match starts. Ask the host to assemble the next room, then use its link or code. Reconnecting to an existing character is different from a new player joining.
